Resting on a hillside overlooking the medieval city of Volterra, the Monterosola estate combines the very best of traditional winemaking techniques with state-of-the art technology. Just 50km from the respected coastal region of Bolgheri and 30km from the world-famous hills of Chianti, Monterosola sits perfectly in the middle of two of the best wine growing locations in the world.

Wine Tastings & Guided Tours
Monterosola is perfectly located between the world-famous wine-growing regions of Chianti and Bolgheri. An easy drive from the historic cities of Florence, Siena and Pisa, Monterosola is the perfect destination for an exclusive and unique wine-tasting experience in the heart of Tuscany.
With panoramic views of vineyards and olive groves, Monterosola’s impressive cantina overlooks beautiful hillsides, valleys, forests and farmland stretching towards the coast. Monterosola’s winery is ideal for tailormade wine-tastings, private events and exclusive tours.
Olive oil
For thousands of years, olive trees have grown across the hillsides of Tuscany producing some of the world’s finest extra virgin olive oil. At Monterosola our organically grown, hand-picked olives provide us with first-class olive oil which is cold pressed at a traditional mill in nearby Volterra.
Resting 430 metres above sea level, Monterosola has approx. 5 hectares of olive groves which are located on the western slopes of the estate facing towards the Tyrrhenian sea. Here, the olive trees enjoy a pure breeze which naturally aerates the branches keeping the olives in optimum health.

Alberto Antonini
For over a decade, Monterosola’s wine production has been overseen by one of the world’s most experienced and respected oenologists Alberto Antonini.
On his first visit to Monterosola, Alberto immediately recognised the estate’s true winemaking potential and was impressed with the unique characteristics of its terroir. A leading figure in the world of winemaking, Alberto Antonini is one of the most experienced oenologists in the world and is respected globally for his ’Less is More’ philosophy.
The Estate
Stretching across the rolling hillsides to the east of the Medieval fortress city of Volterra in Tuscany, lies the Monterosola wine estate. Here ancient farmland has produced grapes, olives and grains for many generations, providing the residents of Monterosola with wine, oil and wheat for hundreds if not thousands of years.
Today, Monterosola is one of Tuscany’s most inspiring contemporary wine estates featuring a 5-storey state-of-the-art Cantina which offers the very best environment for the production of high-quality organic wines.
Winery
Monterosola’s cantina sits 430 metres above sea level, facing south on the slopes of the enchanting Volterroir. Here, the land offers near enough perfect growing conditions similar to those of the prestigious Brunello region of Montalcino.

The Terroir
The Monterosola estate looks out over ancient farmland as far as the eye can see. From here, you can enjoy endless vistas of vineyards, olive groves and wheat fields. Monterosola’s organic vineyards are planted across the rolling slopes of the hillsides that stretch between Casole d’Elsa, Volterra and the Val di Cecina. With the soil being similar to that of the world famous Montalcino, home to the great Brunello, the Volterroir boasts its own inherent natural qualities that make its wines superior in many ways.
Viniculture
An organic winery since 2013, at Monterosola we practice gentle farming methods. We work in harmony with nature and the changing of the seasons to produce unique wines that capture the essence of the terroir.
With a team of experienced and dedicated vignerons working the vines, the shared aim is to produce premium level wines. Monterosola prepares the very best conditions for the vineyards well in advance, planning, conditioning and nurturing the terroir, long before the vines are even planted.
Weddings
Monterosola is an elegant, privately owned wine estate in the very heart of the Tuscan countryside. Sitting impressively between the world-famous wine growing regions of Chianti and Bolgheri, Monterosola’s majestic 5-storey stone property is just a short drive from the legendary hilltop town of San Gimignano. The views from Monterosola are truly enchanting and feature endless rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves and ancient forests which sweep across the horizon as far as the eye can see.
